Singaporean Mohammed Noorman and his Indonesian wife, Puti Andam Dewi Henry are the owners of Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang at Yishun Park Hawker Centre.

Just like the marriage of the stall owners, their signature dish - the nasi lemak ayam taliwang which the stall is named after - is a cross-cultural union between nasi lemak and ayam taliwang, an Indonesian spicy grilled chicken dish.

The couple had tried ayam taliwang while on honeymoon at Puti's hometown and they liked it so much that they decided to introduce it to Singapore and paired it with Noorman's nasi lemak recipe.

Apart from this, the stall also have nasi lemak ayam balado and nasi lemak ayam cabe ijo.

They are basically the same thing - good old nasi lemak served with grilled chicken leg but are smothered in different types of rempah.

I had the nasi lemak ayam cabe ijo, which is served with grilled chicken leg in green chili rempah.

There is a five minutes wait before I could collect my order but the wait is worth it. The staff who took my order is pleasantly courteous and had a smile on her face the whole while.

I love the presentation on the plate: a mound of fragrant coconut rice topped with a wobbly fried egg is accompanied by the grilled chicken leg, tempe, peanuts with anchovies, cucumber slices and sambal chili.

The aromatic flavors of the sweet smelling coconut rice is further accentuated by the square piece of banana leaf it seats on

For the ayam cabe ijo, the green chili rempah is spicier than I thought but still tolerable. I wished the marinade is a little more savory. The flavors are there but did not penetrate to the thicker parts of the chicken leg.

Due to the grilling, the charred bits on the exterior is there and I like it. The grilled part is slightly dry however, the inside is still tender and moist.

The nasi lemak ayam cabe ijo ($5.90) is quite decently priced for the large chicken leg given. I am interested to give their signature dish, the nasi lemak ayam taliwang a try on my next visit!

Yishun Park Hawker Centre have developed its own app called the "Tuck Shop" that allow customers to make cashless payments.

Download the app to your mobile phone, top up your account with credits via the machines at the hawker centre and you can now pay for your meal by scanning the QR code on your screen with the scanner at the respective stalls.

You will receive both a hard copy receipt from the hawker and a digital one in your app. You will also be able to check your past transactions and monitor the credits you have left in your account.

The price for this plate is $5.90 but I only had to pay $5.31 with 10% off simply by using the Tuck Shop app.
