Hakka Noodle is one of the crowd favorite at Holland Drive Market & Food Centre.
Google about them and their specialty, the Hakka noodle, will turn up as one of the top results in the search engine.
If you are scratching your head over what Hakka noodle is, you might be more familiar with its other name - yong tau foo. It come in two sizes ($3/$4) and I ordered the big serving.
The ingredients are fixed so there is no choosing here.
My order come with a plate of noodle and a bowl of soup.
This is the plate of noodle with a few leaves of nai bai, bean sprouts and a heap of minced meat. There is a fried wanton and a ngor hiang ball here.
The big bowl of soup included a fish ball, tau pok, green chili, bitter gourd, tofu and brinjal. The items are stuffed with meat paste instead of the usual fish paste.
Regrettably, I do not like the type of noodle used as it reminded me of those instant noodle mee pok. Also, the tossing sauce is not to my liking. I find it too oily without much flavors. All I could taste is the chili sauce and nothing else.
However, the stall sees a perpetual queue everyday so it might just be my problem.
The yong tau foo is not served with the usual sweet sauce. What they have, is this tangy and spicy dipping sauce. Do help yourself to it as it is placed outside the stall.
The stall also serve Si Chuan vegetable noodle, ikan bilis noodle and laksa.
