In a blink of the eye, 2025 has already crept into August which happens to be Singapore's birthday month.

To celebrate 60 years of independence, the various fast-food giants here have jumped on the chili crab bandwagon to launch their respective menu inspired by our iconic national dish.

McDonald's has collaborated with JUMBO to create the chili crab sauce prawn burger while KFC and Long John Silver's have their versions of the chili crab mantou burger.

MOS Burger, on the other hand, launched the har burger instead. This creation is MOS Burger's take on the classic prawn noodle reimagined between two buns.

"Har" means prawn in Cantonese so, this is actually a prawn burger.

There is a spicy and non-spicy version.

I opt for the former, which come in the form of cut, red chili. I thought they would slather on sambal instead.

The har burger features a prawn patty on a leaf of lettuce with fishcake, a fried egg on top and sandwiched in between two buns.

The prawn patty is hot and crispy, but it does not have noticeable prawny flavors, like the one from McDonald's does. I do not mean to compare the two but the competitor's prawn patty indeed fares better.

The har patty is made with real whole prawns but there just isn't any prawn flavor. Or enough of it to leave an impression.

Apart from that, everything else is on point. I have nothing to nitpick about the texture and freshness, but in terms of flavor, it is underwhelming for me.

The prawn sauce drizzled on the prawn patty did not seem to make any difference.

Apart from buns, I wonder if this har burger will turn out differently if they replace the bun with rice burger instead?

Let's move on to the har soup which is garnished with fried shallots.

The viscosity is thick, almost bisque-like.

Taking a sip, I find the flavor full-bodied and concentrated. It tastes just like prawn soup!

I should have poured some of this onto the burger!

The combo comes with a cup of iced tea. There is no option to swap it for other beverages.

When I first had a sip, I did not know what I was drinking. I could not tell that it was actually tea until I saw the receipt. But it wasn't bad; just that it does not taste like tea to me. It kind of grow on me after a while. It is rather refreshing to have.
