Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre have no lack of stalls offering soy sauce chicken. Other than Fatty Ox and Liao Fan (Hawker Chan), Fei Ye Ye Food Tradition is another stall here that specialize in soy sauce chicken ($7.50/half, $14/whole).

Apart from soy sauce chicken noodle, they also serve wanton noodle, wanton soup, sui kow (dumpling) noodle, sui kow soup and chicken feet noodle.

Almost every lunar new year, I would head to Fei Ye Ye for their jellyfish yee sang however, I have yet to give their noodles a try. Well, not even once.

Come to think of it, I wonder why?

Since I am currently on a food trail at this food centre, I thought why not take the opportunity to try all the soy sauce chickens here?

I ordered a plate of soy sauce chicken noodle and I was asked for my preference for chicken breast or chicken wing. I am surprised by the pro-activeness of the staff to which I requested for the latter. I also asked to add sui kow to my order.

My plate of noodle came with a chicken wing neatly chopped up for easy consumption. There is the drumette, wing and tip. By the side are the two pieces of sui kows I added on, some chye sim and a couple of crispy pork lard. Not forgetting the sambal chili and pickled green chili too.

The meat is moist and tender that even the thicker part of the drumette which is usually bland, does not feel so painful to eat. I especially like the flavorful skin that emits a sweet aroma of the marinade.

The sui kow is filled with minced pork, a whole shrimp and a lot of carrot strips! This is my first time having sui kow with this much carrot in it! The carrot strips provided some crunch yet at the same time, overwhelms the flavor of the pork with its sweetness.

The taste of the carrot is a bit too much for me. I am glad that I did not order an additional bowl of sui kow soup. If there are more, I might have problem finishing them all!

The portion of the noodle is sufficient to keep me full. The tossing sauce which is simply pork lard oil and sambal chili compliments the springy noodle.
