Instead of Aunty Huang (黄阿姨) herself, it was a young lad running the show when I turn up at 黄阿姨面店, a noodle stall located inside Mei De Coffee Shop at 273 Bukit Batok East Ave 4.
I admit that it was the eye-catching signboard with its brilliant colors that caught my attention.
The stall serves noodle dishes such as "aunty special noodle", "Malaysia-style noodle", signature fried meatball noodle, laksa, fishball noodle, minced meat noodle, and dual egg & minced meat soup.

After a brief look at the menu, I decided to have the signature fried meatball noodle ($4.80).
I opted for the mee pok as my choice of noodle. I also requested for extra black vinegar and more sambal chili to be added.
The lad began to assemble the bowl by blanching the noodle and mixing the tossing sauce.
Since there is no queue, my order was completed in no time.
My order consists of four fishball-sized meatballs, a piece of fried dumpling, and a sliver of mushroom atop the mound of mee pok.

The mee pok was given a thorough tossing until every strand is coated with a slick of oil.
I picked up a portion of noodle with my chopsticks and eagerly shoved them into my mouth. They were cooked till springy with a lovely bite to it.
The sauce mix was subtly acidic with black vinegar while the sambal chili possessed an intense spiciness that added dimensions to this dish.
I did not actually have any high hopes for this bowl of noodle but wow, am I impressed! I love the concoction of tossing sauce so much I could have a bowl of noodle kosong with it!
The element of surprise for me would be uncovering the occasional crispy pork lard hidden among the noodles.

I deliberately saved the meatballs for the last.
One look and I could tell that they are handmade.
The texture is coarse and unrefined.
These babies are definitely 100% minced meat without any fillers added.
They were so rustic, it felt like they came right out from Mum's loving hands.
The meatballs are a little low on salt though but that is exactly how Mum would have made them, isn't it?

That is the signboard which made this post possible.
Visiting this stall was an impromptu decision; I did not do any prior homework to look up info about this stall.
I only did so after getting home and realize that this stall does not have much media presence. I guess it is due to a lack of anglicized name that make "talking about them" online difficult.
