While queuing for Wei Yi Laksa, I noticed that Tanglin Halt Delicious Duck Noodle two units down is another one of the stalls here that open for business during the wee hours at Tanglin Halt Market.

By "wee hours", I really meant 5.30am! One can only wonder how early our hawkers have to be at their stall to prepare everything just so we could have breakfast the moment we opened our eyes. Their dedication to their craft is what makes them truly deserving of our respect!

Just like the queue at Wei Yi Laksa, a comparable line has also formed in front of the duck noodle stall. Unfortunately, there is only so much food I could fill my stomach with so I have to make a return trip for the duck noodle on another day.

Due to the Lunar New Year, I could only make my way down after the festivities have ended. This time, I arrived much later than the previous visit but there is still a snaking queue in front of the stall at 10am. Fortunately, the queue cleared quite fast.

I ordered a large bowl of dry duck noodle ($3/$4/$5). Unlike other Teochew braised duck noodle stalls that offer only bee hoon, yellow noodle and kway teow, this stall also have mee kia and mee pok.

The noodle's sauce is made up of chili sauce and the duck's braising sauce.

The spiciness and fragrance of the chili together with the savoriness from the braising sauce makes a nice combi for tossing the noodles in.

I requested for a mix of bee hoon and yellow noodles so it would not be too jelat for me. I realized there is no vegetables apart from the cilantro and spring onions. Now, if only they include a handful of bean sprouts for the crunch.

The duck meat is deboned and sliced thinly. While I find the duck meat rather bland, the texture is tenderly moist. It actually taste quite delicious if you dip it in the noodle's sauce.

I did not expect my bowl to include some pieces of gizzard. This is my first time attempting to eat duck gizzard and I am surprised that I like the chewy texture!

This is the bowl of soup served separately with my dry noodle. The herbal taste is quite subtle though the hint of star anise and cinnamon is quite distinct. Of course, I would not mind if the herbal taste is slightly heavier.

The soup is easy on the palate without being overwhelming. While waiting for my turn in the queue, I have seen customers bringing their empty bowl back for refills.
