Synopsis:

Theseus and his mother were outcasts in their village.

He was conceived after his mother was raped and no man would want her. For years, they were despised on and often bullied by the other villagers.

As a child, Theseus was often seething with rage but under the guidance of an old peasant, Theseus directs his anger into something more useful; he became well trained in combat.

The brutal and savage King Hyperion was angry with the Gods for failing to answer his prayers when his family was stricken by illnesses. He was thus determined to find the legendary Epirus Bow because only he who possesses it, could unleash the Titans and overthrow the Gods on Mount Olympus.

If there is only one mortal man who could stop King Hyperion, it would be Theseus - the chosen one by Zeus - who is in fact, the old peasant in disguise.

Hyperion and his army raided several Holy places in search of the Bow to no avail and Theseus's mother was killed by Hyperion himself during one of those raids.

Together with Phaedra, the virgin oracle - who had the power of vision leading to the whereabout of the Bow, Theseus seeks to avenge his mother's death and battle for the future of humanity.

As a fan of Greek mythology, I knew this is one movie not to be missed.

I guess my passion for Greek mythology stemmed from the influence of Dad whom I have been sitting alongside as a kid whenever classic Greek movies are showing on TV.

The fight between good and evil; and the battle of the heroes against the villains never fails to fascinate me as the stories unfold on TV.

No prizes for guessing whom I brought along to the movie preview of IMMORTALS!

The storyline was a little draggy and the character development compromised imo but you have to give them credits for the stunning and impressive visuals.

I especially like the slow-motion battle with it's well choreographed fight scenes.

There is some realism to how the bodies were torn apart and with the severed body parts flying onto the seat next to you (if you watch it on 3D).

Plenty of blood and gore in this movie, I would say.

Overall, IMMORTALS is an entertaining movie of epic proportions if you are not faint-hearted and not too bothered by historical inaccuracies.

Thanks to the good people at OMY and United International Pictures (UIP) for the cordial invites!

Reminder: Brief nudity expected and the violence may be a little too gruesome for kids. Erm, what am I talking about? This movie is M18.
