I have been trying hard to come up with a title for this post but seriously, my mind just went blank after watching this video.
Would you eat something that has been discarded by others?
No?
Well, I wouldn't do it myself and yet, there are people who actually depended on these food scraps just to survive!
What do you think of that?
Please spend a few minutes to view this award winning video (while I go grab a piece of tissue).
This video is a wake-up call to all of us and it gives me the opportunity to reflect how good I have it better than these people.
We all know that it's blasphemy to waste food yet, how many of us here are not guilty of wasting food at some point of our lives?
Smashing cakes during birthday celebrations, leftovers at buffets, or even some meaningless TV game shows where food are thrown at people totally irked me out!
I could never fathom how anyone could guiltlessly send precious food to the bin when there are actually people dying of starvation at the other end of the world?
Please have your cake and eat it, literally! Cakes are meant for consumption; not smashing into your friend's faces! During buffets, take only what you can finish. Go for seconds if you are still hungry but do not bite off more than what you can chew!
Please spare a thought for the less fortunate in Africa, Somalia and Ethopia.
Appreciate and be thankful for what is served on your plate today.
[Blog Action Day] is an annual event that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion around an important issue that impacts us all.
For 2011, our Blog Action Day coincides with World Food Day, so our topic of discussion for this year will be food.
