Update: Tian Xiang Wanton Noodle has relocated. The new address has been updated at the bottom of this post.

Apart from the drinks stalls at Tanglin Halt Food Centre, Tian Xiang Wanton Noodle is one of the earliest stalls to open for business every morning.

I have read numerous good reviews about their wanton noodle so I decided to give them a try. I arrived just slightly after 7am - their stipulated opening hour and there is just one customer before me.

The stall offers both wanton and sui kow noodle at the same price of $3 and $3.50.

I ordered a plate of wanton noodle with the stall owner who did not take long to fulfill my order. My plate contained a considerable mound of noodle accompanied by char siew, both fried and boiled wantons as well as some chye sim

Due to the time taken by me to take photos, the sauce have dried up. However, the noodle is well-oiled so it does not feel dry at all. In fact, the noodle is very flavorful. Its texture is delightfully springy and does not have the alkaline smell. I love the old school taste which reminded me of the wanton noodle that I had as a child.

There are two fried wantons and another two boiled ones in the soup. The marinade of the pork filling is slightly overwhelming for me which is especially more apparent in the boiled wantons. The fried ones are enjoyable though.

Their char siew are the typical dyed ones sliced in large pieces. Since it is all lean with no ounce of fat, it feels a tad dry in my throat.

Although the char siew is not remarkable, the style of this wanton noodle is the kind I like especially the taste of the sauce. What's admirable is that this plate of wanton noodle is actually prepared by a young chap probably in his late 20s.

This is easily one of my top few favorite wanton noodle. With young people shunning the hawker trade, I see light at the end of the tunnel for our hawker heritage!

My only distress is that this area is slated to be demolished under the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme in 2020. I am so very afraid of losing this precious wanton noodle stall when the day arrives! (Boss, please set up a FB page for your stall so we know where you are wherever you have relocated to!)
