I have walked past Du Du Shou Shi at Blk 505 Jurong West Market & Food Centre numerous times before but this is my first time patronizing them.

It used to be a noodle stall by day and a tutu kueh stall by night. However, when I visited the stall this morning, it has fully transformed into a tutu kueh stall. Any signs of it being a noodle stall in the past is no longer apparent.

And taking helm at the stall front now is a younger man instead of the usual elderly uncle.

Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring @ Haig Road Food Centre

Mention Haig Road Food Centre and the famous putu piring comes to mind.

To be honest, I have long heard about it but never tasted one before.

I always wonder what is the difference between the putu piring and the tutu kueh since they look so similar in appearance?

After trying Traditional Haig Road Putu Piring for the first time, I finally know that the Malay putu piring is filled with gula melaka instead of coconut and peanut like its Chinese cousin.

Tutu Kueh is a small steamed cake made of roasted rice flour and filled with either grated coconut or crushed peanuts. Claiming to be its creators, Queensway Lau Tan Tutu Kueh has been selling this old school snack at Queensway Shopping Centre for as long as I could remember.

However, this post is not about their main outlet at Queensway but their latest stall inside Food Opera, level B4 at ION Orchard.

Having shifted over from its previous location at Shaw House, this is the only outlet that offers their signature Pink Rose Tutu Kueh.
