Kai Kai, the male Giant Panda who is here on a 10 year conservation program celebrates his 5th birthday today. He's seen here enjoying a special birthday cake made of carrots, apples and high-fibre biscuits all frozen in ice.
Kai Kai and his female counterpart, Jia Jia, are currently undergoing quarantine at the River Safari.
Kai Kai watches in anticipation as Abdul Halim, River Safari’s Assistant Curator of Zoology, adds finishing touches to the birthday cake.
Don't you think he looks adorable here with his paws on the fence?
He arranges high-fibre biscuits to form the initials "KK5".
The cake had to be frozen overnight and weighed approximately 5 kg.
Kai Kai indulges in a buffet of sulphur bamboo (Phyllostachys sulphurea) and Siamese bamboo (Thyrsostachys siamensis).
HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY, KAI KAI!
