Mango and Strawberry flavored Tau Huey (Beancurd)
Tonight is the proposed date of the highly controversial Diner En Blanc (The White Dinner).
While some Singaporeans have called for the boycott of the event, others have taken a step further by planning similar events on the same day.
One such event is Makan Day, motioned by Singapore's very own Blogfather, Mr Brown.
Makan Day is a own-time-own-target event governed by no rules (as opposed to the unforgiving rules of Diner En Blanc) whereby participants could eat anything they desire anywhere, anytime and with anyone they like.
According to him, participants could bring and share food of any colour because our tastes are diverse.
Fast food also can, slow food also can. Tau Huay also can!

Another event, called the 超级白！(it's SUPER white!) is the brainstorm of Stephanie Chua and Aloysius Low.
Held in Hong Lim Park from 7.30pm to 10 pm, attendees are advised to bring white clothes, food, friends, picnic mat, rubbish bags and smiles to the gathering.
The Good Beer Company has kindly sponsored 48 bottles of beer while Happy Boy Soya Bean has sponsored 50 bowls of Tau Huey for this event.

Chwee Kueh (Steamed Rice Cakes with pickled radish)
And there is yet another Facebook event called "Make And Eat Tau Huey Day" started by Alan Goh who urged Singaporeans to make or buy Tau Huey and share it with their loved ones.
With the massive outcry days prior it's event, will Diner En Blanc's first stop in Asia pull it through or end up in flop?
