The new ticketing counter

After a intensive seven months renovations, Shaw Lidos is back - newer and classier!

Thanks to Nuffnang, I was invited to the grand opening of Shaw Lidos and the Gala Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

It is exhilarating to know that we are watching POTC4 way before the Americans does which is due for release on May 20, 2011 in the US!

Sorry, no more pictures after this shot as all electronics equipment had to be surrendered to the security personnel prior entering the halls.

My movie Experience

My experience in Hall 5 was a pleasant one.

The theater may seem smaller than most around but it is not a concern at all.

The seat is very comfortable with ample leg room and (surprisingly!) head support.

One annoying pet peeve while at the theater is to have your view blocked by the person in front and you have to cran your neck left and right to catch a glimpse of what's happenning on screen.

You would be pleased to know that there is no such worries here as the height difference between each rows were quite adequate. Therefore, no worries if you have a pair of love birds sitting in front of you!

My last point is for Disney's.

I watched the movie in 3D and I find the 3D experience rather lacking. I feel that they could do much more eg, waves splashing in our faces, Mermaids jumping out of the screen baring their breast teeth at us, etc rather then just 3D-fying the opening credits...

The Movie (Spoilers!)

During the last scene of the third instalment (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End), the map to the Fountain of Youth, which has fallen into Babossa's possession, has been in turn stolen by Jack and he was last seen rowing out to sea in a boat.

In this sequel, Jack learns that there is an imposter posing as him and recruiting crew members at the Captain's Daughter (a tavern in London during the 18th century).

As it turns out, the imposter is non other than Angelica (Penélope Cruz), an old flame of Jack who turns out to be the daughter of the legendary Captain Blackbeard, who wants to reclaim his youth by finding the Fountain of Youth.

Tricked by Angelica, Jack was trapped on board the Queen Anne's Revenge (Blackbeard's ship), where he had no options but to lead everyone on a perilous voyage in search of the fabled fountain.

Enjoy some stills from the movie.
